Have you ever been to Palmers Road to
plant trees before?
What a beautiful sunny day, today B11 and B10 went on a trip on a sunny day to plant some trees and plants, the trees and plants we planted were Totara, Kowai and
Manuka with spades and shovels.

I was so happy and excited to plant for my first time at Palmers Road. While planting and digging I found stuff , I found a shell.

Whaea Coral and I helped plant the trees and plants, also Elarnia and I were planting and I thought I saw money but it was a piece of plastic, when Grace and I were next to each other I saw a worm and I threw it to her, it was funny, we all laughed.

After we finish our planting we got ready to go back to school.

My holiday by Waimihi

My holidays

In the holidays I went to Wellington to see my family. I was so excited to go but I was not excited for the eight hour drive. I said “good bye” to my mum. My aunty, cousins and I set off on the road. We left at 10.am and got there at 6.pm.

While we were in the car driving, we had some technical difficulties with my mum’s car radio, the DVD player wasn’t working, so I hopped in the front seat and fixed it. We were so excited to go to Wellington. We were all hungry so we stopped to get something to eat. My cousin and I had pizza while my brother, aunty and my other cousins had subway. When my cousin and I went over to order the pizza, we saw that the pizza was 15 dollars. So we went back to tell my aunty and she said “I’ll get it for you.” After we ate we went back on the road.

We stopped again, just for gas. When we knew that we were nearly in Wellington, we were so excited. When we got there I didn’t want to go back home. The week went so fast, we had to leave on Thursday but that didn't happen. We went to the mall and then we went on my cousin’s uncle’s boat and we got to jump off the boat. The water was freezing cold. The next day we went in the car to travel back to Auckland.

Trip To Palmers Rd ( Aniora)

Trip To Palmers Road

Come one get ready to walk down to the gate and wait for the bus to pick us up.

Today B11 and B10 are going to Palmers Road to plant some beautiful trees. We first got our name tags, said the roll and got our water bottles just in case we got thirsty. We met B10 downstairs and they were all ready to go.When we walked to the gate we got straight onto the bus because it was already there waiting for us.We went around the roundabout and over a few bumps.

When we arrived to Palmers Rd we had to line up next to B10.Then three Auckland Councils came and introduced themselves to both of the classes.Their names were Paul, Sarah and Kara. They will be teaching us how to plant at tree properly. The first step is to get yourself a spade and dig a hole in the ground. Make sure it's not to deep or not to shallow. Also make sure you don't dig your hole next to a tree root. Step two, place your plant into your hole and press the dirt that you dug out, push that on top of your plant and make sure it's really in there and cannot get out or wiggle.

So B10 dug on the far side while we dug on the other side.We also had partners. I paired up with Jorjah. The plants were already where you have to dig so we got our spades and started digging .We also planted in another area where you can see the beach. It was a beautiful view.

Maybe after like an hour we had to come back together and put everything away because it was time to go back to school. So we washed our hands from a big container filled with water.

When we were all cleaned up we walked in two lines and walked back to school.

We walked through the tunnels and across the roads. When we arrived back to school, we walked back to class to write our recount. I enjoyed planting trees, it was fun.

Meet and greet JBS by (Dendae)

Meet and greet JBS

I've been on many trips, outing trips but not a trip like this!

When Jean batten school arrived I was so nervous because they looked
so so tall. I was wondering which person was my buddy but then I found out.

After a while we finally made it back to class and our first class was room 3. Once Mrs Puna finished calling out all the instructions for our stem I ran to my friend called Serenity.

Afterwards the time was up and Mrs Vaevae came to inspect who the winner was, and the winner was Roberts group.

At last we packed up and left to the hall to have some morning tea.

Finally the bell rang to play, Mele and I went to the Tongan unit to help B11’s ice-block fundraiser.

JBS Meet and Greet (Zhendy)

JBS Meet and Greet

“OMG, JBS is coming to our school” Today B11 and B4 went to the hall to meet JBS  in person for the first time, after blogging with them for quite a while.

To start off B11 went outside the class and lined up then walked to the hall. We saw Jean Batten School Room 2 and 3. Mrs Puna signalled Kate and I to say our welcome speech to them.  After we said our speech, we told everyone to say “hi” to the person next to them. The teachers that were with us were,Whaea Susan, Mrs Puna, Whaea Teagan, Mr Jackson, Mrs Vaevae, Whaea Nardi and Whaea Sarah. Whaea Susan released us to our class to do our stem activity so we walked to our class. Mrs Puna called out the leaders of the group to stand up, then she told the rest of the students to go to their leaders. Since Katerine was away, I had to be in charge of all three students, their name are Rosalia, Jessica and Peti. They were all  year 6’s and they are from JBS room 3.

The activity we were going to do was to build a spaghetti and marshmallow tower, whoever built the tallest and longest standing tower was the winner.

We started to build the tower by poking the spaghetti into the marshmallow and created a square tower. What we had to do was to build the spaghetti tower was to poke a spaghetti stick in the marshmallow. Our tecnique was to have a square base and keep going up but it wasn’t strong enough, so it collapsed. After building our tower we cleaned up the class room, Mrs Puna gave a prize to the group who had the tallest tower, then we walked to the hall to eat morning tea.

The last class we had was JBS room 2. We did the exact same thing as the other class. My buddies were Rubayat and two other students but I don't remember their names. At the start our tower started off great but at the end it turned out to be a complete fail. After that we had lunch, Aniora, Jorjah, Destiny, Navaeh and I went to sell the ice-blocks. Navaeh and destiny are Aniora buddies.

When the bell rang it was time for JBS to leave, so we said our thank you’s and farewell’s. We walked back to class to write about our day. I was so happy to meet my JBS buddies in person.

Trip to Palmer’s Road

Today my class went to Palmers Road and why? To dig, dig and dig and plants some trees. When we arrived, we saw three people there names were Sarah, Kara and the lovely gentleman's name was Paul. There were about fifty shovels behind the three lovely people. Everyone in my class was buddied up, I was with my teacher we dug a lot of holes.

My teacher and I planted more than twenty plants. Every time we planted in the ground, I had to go on my knees and hands, they were dirty because of the dirt. Our first plant was ok and it got better as we planted more and more plants. At the end when we finished our hard work we walked and walked back to school.

A Trip To Auckland Live (Zhendy)

A Trip To Auckland Live

“Woo hooo” Today B11 and B12 went to Auckland Libe at Aotea Square.to start off B11 wore our name tags. We did our normal class routine, when it was 9:00 or so, we went to the bus with B12 and sat down. I sat with Katherine, Katherine bought her books and read it in the, bus along with her vocabulary book.

When we arrived at the Auckland Skycity was, we stopped at the side of the road and hopped out of the bus. There were two adults at the door to guide, us. The first room we went to was callled “The Black Box”. The room was named that, because everything in there is black. We sat down on the ground then a woman came up to us and explained the important things in the room. After she finished explaining what she needed to, B11 and B12 went outside. A man showed us a few things about Auckland Live. when he finished, we went back into the “Black Box” another school started perform a dance, their dance was so amazing and the light effects were so cool. When they finished performing therir dance, they went outside. The woman started to tell us what to do. We were going to perform a play of, witches and crazy gorillas in a thundery night. Mrs Puna selected Alizay, Jerome and me to be in charge of the light effects, it was so cool. The other school watched, B11 and B12 perform our item. I thought we did a really great job.

After that we went to the Town Hall to, eat Morning Tea. Katerine,  Aniora, Jorjah and I sat together to eat. When we finished eating we, went to the next room which was about arts/dancing, they taught us a few moves, they were actually quite hard to do. We had dancing battles and we did some balancing while tilting the other leg.

When we finished that course we had lunch, then we walked to the last course, which was about sound. It was about the importance of listening. What we did was we watched, the three hosts doing a little play, then we walked to the other part of the room. We each got a headphone with a phone plugged into it, we clicked on a file then we acted out what the director was saying through the headphones. After 20 minutes or so we walked back to the bus to go back to school.

Since I was so tired I slept through the ride in the bus. When I woke up we already arrived at school, after about 15 minutes or more it was time to go home, so I went home. I had a really good dayso hopoefully, next we can have a trip like this.

keeping our teeth clean - Olivia

 Keeping Our Teeth Clean

Kia Orana, BulaVinaka and many greetings to you all. Hi my name is Olivia Roberts and I will be talking to you about why we should keep our teeth clean.

Firstly we should keep our teeth clean because if we don’t brush, floss or take care of our teeth it could cause cavity or infections. An infection means an abscessed tooth which could cause an immense and shooting pain all throughout your mouth. You may not know what a cavity is.  A cavity is a hole that can grow bigger and deeper over time in your tooth.

Secondly,  If you eat lollies, chocolates and sugary drinks something will form on your teeth called plaque. It is a yellowy, white colour that causes gum disease. When it mixes with the sugar in your food that will form an acid and eats away at the tooth enamel.  So I kindly ask you all to please stay away from eating sweets and sugary food or brush, floss and take care of you teeth.

Finally, I encourage you all to make sure you brush your teeth. Regular visits and visit every single time you have a loose tooth or little black spots on your tooth and you will live happily ever after.

Thank you for listening to my speech .

My Trip To Palmer's Road By Kate

My Trip To Palmers Road
Ive been on many trips before, trips to pick up rubbish, trips to have fun and play, trips to learn but not a trip quite like this one.

This trip started way before I entered the bus, it started when I was walking to class and nearly got hit by a basketball, phew!!! (as I'm wiping my head.) When I entered my classroom, I was early, wow. My teacher asked me if I could advertise our class disco to some of the classes in our team, so we could fundraise for our future trip and I said “sure!”

After all the advertisement my class and I got ready to go on our trip because we didn't have to leave straight away. We had lunch and got changed into our spare t-shirt, then lined up outside and walked to the bus, then jumped on.

We arrived at the end of Palmers Road, where Weymouth Beach is and the very first thing was lots and lots of… saplings, more sapling than I’ve ever seen in my whole life. They were spread out all across the bank and the little forest next to the footpath. Standing and waiting was two lovely ladies called Sarah and Kara and with them a gentalman called Paul, “pretty original right.”

Sarah demonstarted how we should be digging, planting and patting the saplings. After that we got into groups and I was with Dendae, there was a shovel per group, then we started. There was four different plants, Totara, Kowhai, Manuka and Flax Bush. Dendae and I planted about four of five plants in the little forest then moved onto the bank, with some of our class, we also found heaps and heaps of rubbish and glass.

After planting the plants, we washed our hands put our shovels back, said our good byes and then left down the road walking in our groups. We got back to school and started writing about our amazing trip to Palmers Road, the end!!!

Quick 60 by Rachel

Quick 60
We like quick 60 and we like the teacher. If you don't know the spelling then the teacher will help you but you have to learn how to sound the letters. You will know the spelling and you will get smarter, so try your best and never give up and you will like quick 60. If you don't know how to read, like I said try your best and never give up and you can read well, well, well.
