My Trip To Palmers Road
Ive been on many trips before, trips to pick up rubbish, trips to have fun and play, trips to learn but not a trip quite like this one.
This trip started way before I entered the bus, it started when I was walking to class and nearly got hit by a basketball, phew!!! (as I'm wiping my head.) When I entered my classroom, I was early, wow. My teacher asked me if I could advertise our class disco to some of the classes in our team, so we could fundraise for our future trip and I said “sure!”
After all the advertisement my class and I got ready to go on our trip because we didn't have to leave straight away. We had lunch and got changed into our spare t-shirt, then lined up outside and walked to the bus, then jumped on.
We arrived at the end of Palmers Road, where Weymouth Beach is and the very first thing was lots and lots of… saplings, more sapling than I’ve ever seen in my whole life. They were spread out all across the bank and the little forest next to the footpath. Standing and waiting was two lovely ladies called Sarah and Kara and with them a gentalman called Paul, “pretty original right.”
Sarah demonstarted how we should be digging, planting and patting the saplings. After that we got into groups and I was with Dendae, there was a shovel per group, then we started. There was four different plants, Totara, Kowhai, Manuka and Flax Bush. Dendae and I planted about four of five plants in the little forest then moved onto the bank, with some of our class, we also found heaps and heaps of rubbish and glass.
After planting the plants, we washed our hands put our shovels back, said our good byes and then left down the road walking in our groups. We got back to school and started writing about our amazing trip to Palmers Road, the end!!!
