Trip To RoseHill Intermediate
WOOO HOOO, today B11 and B6 went to a Science roadshow. It was performed at RoseHill Intermediate, it was in Papakura. First of all we had to put on our name tags. At about 10:40 we had to eat lots of our lunch because we weren’t going to take our bags with us. We were walking to the bus, I sat down with Jorjah, at the back of the bus.
When we arrived, we had to wait in line. We went outside and watched the students play basketball. When I saw their uniforms, I thought it looked quite cool. We had to wait for at least 15 minutes till it was our turn to see the science show.
After the long wait we finally went inside the hall, the 2 performers introduced themselves to the audience. Their names were Wesley and Sophie. The name of the show was called the hidden world. That show was about different scopes. There were telescopes, microscopes and another one that looks like a tube. Sophie said that surgeons use it to look in the human bodies so they don’t need surgery. There were a few more scopes, but I forgot what they are called.
They were explaining that the first ever scope was made in the seventeen or sixteen hundreds.
After that part of the show they let us explore the hall. There were different activities to try out and explore, there were different schools attending the show too. I think there were about three different schools that watched the show with us.
My favourite science display was the magnet area. I found the force between them interesting because if you try to put negative with negative it will not connect because it is the same.
On the next part of the science show they were talking about physical and chemical changes. I think a physical change is something you can reverse for example, is you put salt in a bowl of water, you can reverse it by putting it in the sun. The sun can absorb the water and leave you with the salt. However a chemical change is something you can’t reverse, for example if you burn a piece of paper, you can’t reverse it has become ashes, although you can put it together but it will take a lot of work.
After the trip we went to school and ate a few things, the things I really enjoyed about the trip was when they told us the science behind the oobleck. Oobleck is when you add force to the mixture, it was move an inch but if you slowly put your hand in the oobleck mixture your hand will go into it. To make oobleck you will need cornstarch/corn flour and water.
Hi Zhendy.
